Kisco Senior Living Enters Utah – Opening Sagewood at Daybreak
(Carlsbad, Calif., and South Jordan, Utah - March 27, 2013 ) Kisco Senior Living selected Daybreak in South Jordan as the home for its newest independent living, assisted living and memory care community.
Ground breaking for Sagewood at Daybreak is planned for late April; the 201-unit community is scheduled to open for move-in summer 2014. Kisco Senior Living plans to recruit locally to staff its community and projects 80 – 90 full-time positions to be filled.
“I couldn’t have created a better list for an ideal elder housing setting than what Daybreak and Utah offer,” said Mitch Brown, Kisco Senior Living chief development officer. “It’s a rare privilege to work with a master developer like Daybreak that understands elder housing and its importance in a community. Sagewood’s location in Daybreak will be the heart of the vibrant, multi-generational community and is only steps away from restaurants, shops, walking paths, TRAX, a University of Utah Medical Center complex and neighbors an active adult residence. Coupled with the state’s investment in infrastructure, public transit, its educated workforce, stable economy and quality of life, Utah perfectly aligns with our healthy aging lifestyle vision.”
Daybreak is Utah’s single community that has been master planned with the size, scope, and services to fill each life stage – childhood to elderhood.
“Sagewood at Daybreak will add a new layer that further enriches our diverse neighborhood,” said Ty McCutcheon, vice president of community development for Kennecott Land. “Seniors can stay close to their children and grandchildren who may live in the area and enjoy the amenity-accessible lifestyle and then remain in place as their living and physical care needs change.”
Each of Kisco Senior Living’s 20 established communities has its own intrinsic culture and energy that has an impact on healthy aging and lifestyle. Sagewood at Daybreak will be patterned after this philosophy, taking the best from Kisco communities’ heritage but establishing a thriving culture that harmonizes with the residents’ unique characteristics and lifestyle.
Kisco Senior Living offers residents multiple choices to tailor the living and healthy aging experience to their lifestyle. Sagewood at Daybreak will offer three dwelling options:
- 100 Independent Living units offering central dining facilities that provide residents, as part of their monthly fee, access to meals and other services such as housekeeping, linen service, transportation, and social and recreational activities.
- 78 Assisted Living units that provide additional supportive care from trained employees to residents who are unable to live independently and require assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including management of medications, bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulating and eating.
- 23 Assisted Living “plus” units 23 Memory care dwelling where residents and care providers live as an extended household and have special provisions such as a secured, outdoor garden to offer quality of life with the necessary protection.
- A bistro, dining room, full-service salon including therapeutic massage, and fitness center are planned for the six-acre campus.
Salt Lake City-based Beecher Walker Architects and GGLO architects and urban planners in Seattle designed Sagewood at Daybreak.
