Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Abbotswood Irving Park:
We had a great week this week while celebrating National Assisted Living Week, Spirit Week and Farm to Table theme day. Our produce vendor, Pride of the Morning provided the produce for our “mini produce market”. Chef Chris used the fresh local produce to make quesadillas for everyone. Thank you to the Wellness and Dining Depts for all your efforts in making these events a big success!
Surveillance Testing was completed on 25% of the campus population last week and the campus remains Covid-free. As a reminder, we are conducting ongoing bi-weekly surveillance testing that will allow us to keep an eye on any potential COVID-19 activity at Abbotswood Irving Park. Our next surveillance testing period will be on September 23.
Kisco Senior Living is currently pursuing alternate testing called “Pooled Saliva” testing. This testing is approved by the CDC, meets all local/state/federal requirements and is very simple to administer. We will be the only Senior Living operator that we are aware of to conduct this level of testing. We intend to test all associates twice per week and we would like to test all residents once per week. We believe that this high frequency of testing will allow us to open up our dining venues with reduced capacity, conduct more wellness activities, and better manage residents who leave our community (without the need for quarantine). More information to follow early next week on the details regarding “pooled saliva testing”.
Dining: as we have been discussing, we are planning to open the dining room at AIP on a limited basis/capacity in the near future. Much of this will be dependent upon the new “Pooled Saliva” testing method. I apologize for the delay, but there are a lot of factors involved in re-opening safely and effectively. One of those factors is this new testing method that Kisco Senior Living is pursuing.

Its been a great week with a lot of fun events both for residents and associates. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s efforts in trying to create an environment of “normalcy” during this difficult time. Over the last several weeks, I have had conversations with residents and families, and I’m humbled at the feedback I’ve received regarding their appreciation for the efforts our associates are giving on a daily basis. I’m honored to work alongside such caring and dedicated associates and to be a part of this community that I’ve called “home” for the last 17 years. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work through this pandemic together.
Sincerely,
William Eubank- Assistant Executive Director
