Dear Residents, Associates and Family Members,
In preparation of distributing the COVID vaccine, the state of NC recently made the request of all Long-term care communities to elect a pharmacy partner and give estimated numbers of all residents, staff and essential medical visitors associated with the community. We selected Walgreens as our pharmacy partner to administer the COVID vaccine. I was thrilled to be contacted on New Year’s Eve by our designated Walgreens representative to schedule vaccine clinics. Pharmacies are following the prioritization schedule put forth by the state, so I feel very fortunate that they were able assign initial clinic dates in January for all levels of living of our community.
We have 3 scheduled on-site vaccination clinics. Vaccinations will be given to residents, associates, and essential visitors at each of these clinics. The vaccine we will be receiving at our community is the Moderna vaccine. Please note that 2 doses are required, and consecutive clinics have been scheduled at the appropriate interval for the 2 doses. We are requesting that everyone do all possible to be available for the first two clinics. Clinic 2 will be your last opportunity for a first dose so it is imperative that you attend Clinic 1 or 2 to receive the full vaccine. The clinic dates and times are as follows:
- Clinic 1-January 21, 2001
- The Elms 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- VerraSpring 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Abbotswood Independent Living/Cottages 9 a.m.-5 a.m.
- Clinic 2-February 18, 2001
- The Elms 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- VerraSpring 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Abbotswood Independent Living/Cottages 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Clinic 3-March 18, 2001
- The Elms 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
- VerraSpring 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Abbotswood Independent Living/Cottages 9 a.m.-11 p.m.
There is a good bit of preparation that needs to be done by the community prior to the first of our clinics. We will need to get Vaccination Administration Records (VAR) from every resident, associate and essential visitor taking the vaccine. For residents, a copy of that form is attached to this memo and needs to be completed and returned to the front desk as soon as possible. An electronic copy of the form can also be found at the following link: https://tdwagsservices.wagsoutreach.com/PdfVouchers/prefilledCOVIDVarForm_EN_NC.pdf
The community is responsible for inputting this information into the Walgreens portal prior to the clinic. Once we have forms back, we can let participants know where and what time their vaccination will take place. After you turn in a VAR form, you will receive follow up information, including an appointment card.
Maximum participation across the community is vital! We are all looking forward to getting back to a much more normal way of life and this is your opportunity to do our part. As a member of the Abbotswood community, we all have a collective responsibility to support each other’s health and wellbeing. Many experts are now citing 90% immunity as the target needed to halt the Coronavirus. This is greater than many earlier estimates because the virus is becoming more transmissible and thus requires a higher percentage of herd immunity to stop it. Herd immunity can only occur if enough people immunize themselves making COVID less likely to spread.
This is your shot!…Join our Herd!
Best,
Allison Pait, Executive Director
