Holiday Happenings!
Please join us for a visit with Santa and get your picture taken during our “Festival of Lights” drive-thru event on Monday December 7 from 5-7 p.m. Santa will be in front of The Elms. This visit will be outside and social distanced. Please wear your mask. You will be able to pull over during the “Festival of Lights” drive-thru and we will take your 2020 picture with Santa! Family is invited to join us for this event! Toy donations for Toy for Tots will be accepted.
We are planning a Holiday Parade and Market on Tuesday December 8. The market is back by popular demand! Residents loved the fall market so much that they asked that we do it again! Here’s your opportunity to do a little safe Holiday shopping right here at home. The market will be held on the 2nd floor Mezzanine from 12:30-2 p.m. Soaps, pens, baked goods, crocheted items, woodworking and more all made by Abbotswood residents, associates will be available! The parade begins at 4 p.m. and route will cover the entire campus. Dress warmly and grab a seat to watch the fun!
Dining Room Operations:
With Covid cases at an all-time high, Green Valley (COVID hospital) nearing capacity and a 10% positivity rate in NC, we have made the difficult decision to extend the closure of the dining room. Masks, daily screening, hand hygiene and social distance are more important than ever. We will keep our eyes on the numbers and local conditions and will continue to make decisions with these factors in mind. We will provide regular updates and hope to get residents back into the dining room as soon as possible.
Testing & Visitation:
Many thanks to all for the participation in testing this week. We will continue testing Monday and Thursday for ALL residents through next week before returning to our “normal” once a week cadence for residents who have not left campus.
Please remember that we still have lots of visitation options available for families!
- Visitation stations are still available in all levels of living. They require an appointment, hand hygiene and mask usage. Those can be scheduled with the building that family members are visiting.
- Tested visits are now available twice a week! Testing happens on Monday and Thursday. Kits must be reserved by calling the front desk at (336)282-8870. Families must visit within 24 hours of getting a negative result. Masks and hand-hygiene are required. These visits take place in any of the community common spaces and allow for a much more personal visiting experience and even a hug!
We are looking forward to the end of the year and finding fun, creative and safe ways to celebrate the holidays together. Thank you, as always, for your partnership in keeping our community healthy and safe!
Best,
Allison Pait, Executive Director and Will Eubank, Assistant Executive Director
