I am sending this letter to inform you that one resident has tested positive for COVID-19 last night. This resident is in stable condition and will quarantine in their apartment for 14 days or until cleared with a negative test result. At this time the source of infection is believed to be related to essential services provided by third party and we are working closely with these parties to have them tested. Aligned with CDC protocols we are conducting a thorough review of this case and will notify and address any residents or associates identified as having potential exposure to this individual. In accordance with patient privacy laws, additional details about the resident and updates on their condition will be provided only by healthcare authorities. At this time we have no other known cases.
Governor Newsom’s “dimmer switch” analogy represents our approach to containing and responding to COVID-19. Based on data and actual cases in our community/region we adjust our operating protocols “backwards and forwards” rather than completely “on” or “off” to prioritize everyone’s safety while maximizing quality of life. Based on this active case, we will temporarily suspend our visitation stations and small group programs for residents. We will provide wellness programs (exercise, games, virtual connections, and 1:1 interactions with staff in PPE) in resident’s apartments rather than in communal spaces for the time being. Our dining services, mail/packages, and daily wellness checks will continue as delivered door-to-door. We will send an update when we can safely resume programs in the greater community spaces.
We are working on a plan with the Santa Clara Dept. of Health to conduct another cycle of community-wide COVID-19 testing as a precaution. In June, we completed two testing cycles for all associates and residents which returned negative results. Frequent testing will help us identify and respond to any new cases to reduce potential spread. We appreciate your participation and will notify you of dates and details for future testing.
As we continue to monitor this situation we will keep everyone informed of changes. Rest assured that we will do all that we can to promote the safety and overall wellbeing of everyone at BridgePoint Los Altos. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Maria Quintero
