Dear Residents and Families of BridgePoint at Los Altos,
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we monitor the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. The safety of our residents and associates has remained our top priority since the beginning of this pandemic. We have implemented prudent measures to minimize the risk of infection for all and continue to study this issue and in order to stay abreast of industry-wide and CDC recommendations.
We also continue to impose a community-wide shelter-in-apartment/self-isolation of all residents. Residents must remain in their apartments (with exception of medical appointments) for the foreseeable future and until significant risk of infection has passed.
At this time, we only have one positive case at the community and this resident is recovering well. We are communicating daily with the Santa Clara Health Department and waiting for an official clean bill of health. In the meantime, we have placed resident and associate safety above all else and will do all we can to facilitate meaningful days for all residents despite these difficult conditions.
Below are reminders and updated measures implemented:
• Continue to disinfect surfaces (rails, knobs, elevator, etc.) throughout community every 2 hours 24/7.
• All meals and snacks are delivered to residents by associates wearing protective equipment.
• All incoming packages are disinfected before delivery to residents.
• Suspended new move-ins until further notice.
• Any residents needing to moveout, please contact Michelle Benigno or Jayden Bettencourt to go over the logistics. We have a modified moveout procedure.
• Associates that enter resident’s apartment are wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Only one person is assigned to COVID positive resident. Two others identified as a back-up to designated caregiver.
• Extended paid sick time available to all associates to enforce staying at home when unwell without income insecurity.
• Daily delivery of wellness cart with refreshments and goodie bags of self-entertainment (crosswords puzzle, books, etc.). These items are disinfected and individually packaged.
• Mail will be systemically delivered based on floors at minimum twice a week.
• Wellness and Sales Director scheduled to provide in-apartment 10-15 minutes exercise with residents based on interest.
• Delivered one antibacterial handwashing soap per resident as required by health department.
• Managers working on daily runs at local stores for supplies.
• Daily temperatures taken of residents and associates, anyone over 99.6 will be addressed.
• Scheduling FaceTime using Google Duo with residents’ family.
• Assisting residents with virtual physician appointments.
• All residents returning to the community who have been staying off-site (for personal or medical reasons) will be required to quarantine in their apartment for 14 days.
As a continued reminder we are restricting ALL visitors except those deemed “Essential” as follows:
▪ “Compassionate” visits of direct family or verified close friends (only in instances of end-of-life)
▪ Individuals directly providing medically related assistance.
These visitor restrictions prohibit family, friends, clergy, salon and other personal services providers, private duty aides, entertainers, and all other individuals deemed “non-essential” at this time. We apologize for the impact this may have on your normal visitation frequency, and we appreciate your support of our desire to prioritize the health of our residents. We appreciate your diligent compliance with this restriction.
All essential visitors are required to wear a face mask and gloves at all times while within the community. We will be able to provide these items to families who are considered essential visitors. For the professional providers who are providing services to the residents we are asking that they provide their own gloves and masks.
We continue to monitor the latest news and guidance and will keep you informed of any additional changes as often as possible and every Monday at a minimum.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions. And we hope that all our BridgePoint Los Altos families and friends are staying safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
Maria Quintero
Executive Director
