Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Byron Park,
This letter is to update you on the status of our community. As of today, we have one active case of Covid19 in Independent Living. We had previously shared that one of our independent living resident pools had come back positive from the January 12th, 2021 testing date. We had originally identified one resident who was positive in this group. This resident has recovered and the second occupant in their shared apartment is now COVID19 positive. This resident is in stable condition and sheltering in their apartment. We have also identified the vendor who was positive, and this individual will remain out of the community until cleared by Public Health. This individual is in connection with the positive resident apartment and we are confident of no community spread at this time.
On January 20th we shared that one of our assisted living resident pools consisting of 55 residents was also positive for COVID19. After completing individual testing confirming all negative results, it was noted that a resident who had been positive within the last 90 days was included in this pool testing causing the pool to be reported as positive. We apologize for the inconvenience this error caused. All residents in our assisted living neighborhood have resumed indoor dining, fitness, and wellness opportunities.
91% of our community residents and associates have received their initial vaccination for COVID19 on January 6th, 2021. Our second clinic will be hosted this Wednesday January 27th, 2021. Individual appointment cards will be distributed today. Due to a recent change with the availability of vaccines for John Muir and the greater Contra Costa County area, those that had been ineligible or opted out are not able to receive an initial vaccine during the upcoming John Muir Clinic as previously shared. We are continuing to move forward with our partnership with CVS to host another vaccine clinic to accommodate those that were not part of our January 6th series. We are focused on expediting this next clinic as our top priority remains supporting the health and safety of those that live and work at Byron Park.
We know that early detection through our testing programs, vaccination along with physical distancing, proper mask use, hand hygiene, and ongoing health monitoring, we can provide an excellent line of defense in the fight against Covid-19. If you have questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. We thank you for your trust and partnership.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora
Executive Director
