Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Byron Park,
This letter is to update you regarding new-found positive COVID-19 cases, as well as a reminder of the current community COVID-19 protocols.
Our county positivity rate is 16% (14-day average) and with the increase of indoor/outdoor gatherings surrounding the recent holiday, coupled with the reopening of jurisdictions across counties by implementing different measures and in alignment of what we are seeing in the greater Contra Costa County area, we are anticipating seeing an increase in positive cases. As of today, we have six (6) active asymptomatic Independent Living resident cases and one (1) active asymptomatic associate case of COVID-19. At this time, through the resources of background tracing, the origin of exposure amongst the cases have been deemed unrelated. The residents and employee are stable and will continue to self-isolate at home and will not return to the public areas of the community until cleared by local health authorities. We also currently have a few residents who are self-quarantining due to flu like symptoms with this week’s test results pending. In alignment with Contra Costa County Public Health guidelines, all communal dining and communal programming will remain operational pending the remaining test results for the balance of the community.
As a reminder, part of our response to these cases includes a full review and notification to any individuals who may have had exposure and close monitoring to follow. Any parties that meet the criteria of exposure were notified prior to you receiving this letter. Based on our current protocols, with associates and residents wearing protective equipment (PPE) following CDC guidelines and participating in weekly COVID19 testing, we are confident of minimal exposure. In accordance with patient privacy laws, additional details about the associate’s and residents’, vaccine status and updates on their condition will be provided only by healthcare authorities, if appropriate.
We encourage you to visit your loved one living in our community as it is important for friends and families to be together, and we appreciate your anticipated cooperation with the current COVID-19 protocols and participating in your part in keeping Byron Park safe. This reinforces the importance of all associates, providers, and residents to participate in our weekly testing and getting the booster when appropriate. It is also just as important for our families to take advantage of the individual PCR testing offered at Byron Park. This allows for safe interactions between you and your loved ones, especially when an essential outing needs to occur. We know that early detection through our testing programs, along with social distancing, proper mask usage, hand hygiene, and ongoing health monitoring, we can provide an excellent line of defense in the fight against COVID-19.
We will continue to focus on innovative, safe, and secure ways to provide an engaging lifestyle while actively monitoring the ever-changing COVID19 pandemic. We thank you for your commitment, confidence, and partnership during this time. If you have questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora
Executive Director
