Dear Residents, Associates and Families of Byron Park,
I am sending this update to inform you as promised that we have had ONE associate receive a positive test result for Covid-19 at Byron Park. The healthcare authorities (Contra Costa Public Health) and the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing, were notified immediately. At this time, the origin of exposure is not known, and the associate has self-isolated at home and will not return to the community for a minimum of 14 days or until free of symptoms should they arise, whichever is longer from the positive test date. Part of our response to this case includes a full review and notification to any individuals who may have had exposure and close monitoring to follow.
Based on our current protocols, with associates wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) following CDC guidelines, we are confident of minimal exposure. In accordance with patient privacy laws, additional details about the patient and updates on their condition will be provided only by healthcare authorities. Currently, we have no other known cases.
The community protocols that have been in place will remain as we do not have what is considered an “outbreak” at this time. Contra Costa Public Health defines an outbreak as 2 or more resident or staff members with the same illness. 100% of the associates have been tested, 80% of the associates have received a negative test result and the remaining 19% of staff tests are still pending with our lab. In accordance with the previous County Health Order Mass testing of residents will be conducted by Public Health next Friday July 17th, 2020. A separate flyer will be sent door to door closer to the date with detailed instructions.
At Byron Park, our top priority is and will always be the health and well-being of our residents and our associates. We understand that you may have questions and concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. I will continue to keep you informed with updated information as it becomes available. Thank you for your constant support and partnership as we navigate this together.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora
Executive Director
