Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Byron Park,
I would like to update you on that status of COVID-19 cases and other related information. As a reminder we recently identified an outbreak at Byron Park. We have 10 outstanding resident test results from our 7/31 testing and 45 associate test results pending.
As of today, we have 2 active cases which includes 1 associate and 1 asymptomatic independent living resident who is sheltering in their apartment. In partnership with Public Health we are looking to clear both active cases by next Friday 8/14/2020. We send our positive thoughts and support for a full recovery to our team members, residents, and families affected by this virus.
I am saddened to share that one resident who had previously tested positive passed away today. Though this resident was combating other health issues and receiving supportive services, COVID-19 may have contributed to their passing. Our condolences and hearts go out to our resident and their family as they grieve the loss of their loved one. It is our hope to honor the memory of our resident and their family with the privacy they need during this difficult time.
As a reminder with increased testing, we may see an increase in positive results, however, this information will greatly aid our fight against COVID-19 which remains prevalent around us. We will continue weekly testing until we are clear of COVID-19 for 2 consecutive weeks.
We know that upholding the four pillars of safety (masks, screening, social distancing, and handwashing/sanitation) coupled with frequent testing significantly reduces the risk of spread of COVID-19.
We must continue to be vigilant with requiring the use of face masks for all associates at all times, residents when out of their apartments and highly restricting visitation for non-essential purposes. We also would like to remind all residents to shelter in place in their apartment and to continue to not visit each other during this time. Our top priority is to contain spread, monitor those who have tested positive for a full recovery, and to keep our entire campus safe through diligence with safety protocols. I understand you may have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out directly.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora
Executive Director
