Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Byron Park,
We have a promising update on the status of COVID-19 cases at our community. As of today, we have 0 active cases of COVID19 in our community. As previously noted, all associates and residents were negative for COVID-19 in last week’s community wide testing. In a clarification today about the definition of an outbreak with Contra Costa Public Health, it was noted they have returned to the previous standard of 2 or more individuals with COVID-19 would classify the community as having an outbreak. This is a change from the standard of a single case as previously noted.
While we continue to be focused on balancing our resident’s social-emotional needs and measures to keep our community safe we will have a staged reopening. The following activities have resumed today: small group wellness opportunities, scenic drives, masked and socially distant visitation for residents in the courtyard, fitness center and pool access by single use reservation only. All items are by reservation only, masks and maintaining a 6-foot distance from others is required.
The following procedures previously noted will continue: restriction of visitors to medically essential visits only ; families are encouraged to utilize our garden room visitation station/virtual visits, daily monitoring of each resident and associate for temperature and COVID-19 symptoms, in room only dining service, increased disinfection of all high-traffic/high-touch areas and community wide weekly testing.
We have also begun to outline the necessary resources (which include enhanced testing measures) and operational plans to safely reopen Byron Park for families to visit in our common areas and courtyard as well as the long-anticipated reopening of the dining room. While we remain enthusiastic about our next phase I would like to remind you that this will be a fluid environment and our lifestyle offerings; containment initiatives and safety restrictions will change from time to time based on the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community and Contra Costa County. To ensure everyone has easy access to our community guidelines a dated handbook will be created and distributed in the coming week to help everyone stay informed. As always if you have any questions, comments or concerns please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora, Executive Director
