Hello to our amazing Cedarwood family! I am writing to give you a current update on the community:
• We still have zero cases of COVID-19 among staff and residents. We are so proud of our residents, associates, and families, for keeping everyone safe. The last report I read was that 1/3 of all long-term care facilities in Utah have had at least one case of COVID-19. We feel very lucky that we have not had a positive case but are prepared if that changes.
• “Conversation Stations”- I received an email that our plexiglass divider materials will be arriving on the 27th which means by the following Monday we should be able to start making appointments. Once it is set up, I will send out an email notice.
• Starting Monday, Independent Living residents will be able to schedule times to do their own laundry. We will have 2-hour blocks, where residents can come in and wash/dry their clothes. There will also be a gap in between each resident to allow us to thoroughly disinfect the machines and room. The schedule will be available at the front desk, please call and schedule your time as needed.
• Salon – we are now one week from opening the Salon and are thankful for everyone’s patience. We have been focusing on the operational necessities and we appreciate the residents support on this. Please keep in mind that if residents leave the community for hair or nail appointments, they will be put on a 14-day quarantine.
• Effective Monday, we are going to continue to have open time in the courtyard that residents can use as often as they would like, to walk the courtyard and enjoy the fresh air. Please be sure to wear a mask at all times while enjoying the courtyard and outside areas. We will also start having some activities with small groups that allow us to effectively social distance. This component of the community can change at any given time based on risk factor like the state, county, or city data and or if we have a resident or associate that was exposed to COVID-19.
• Letters to the team- if any of you would like to send a note or letter to the team at Cedarwood you can email me or drop them off at the front desk. Every morning we have our Daily Line up as a community team, which is when we share notes and emails from residents and families for all to hear and be recognized. We have greatly enjoyed the letters, treats and lunches that have come our way, THANK YOU!
Once again thank you all so much for supporting us through this crazy time. We know this is hard on everyone. As most of you know, I have a 16-year-old son with severe special needs who lives in a home in Orem. We as a family have not been able to see him for almost 2 months and it has been devastating, so I know exactly what it is like to love someone and not be able to see them, hug them and kiss them. We are all in this together, our #1 priority is to protect our residents, and every day as a team we try to figure out the best way to do that.
WE LOVE YOU and hope you feel that!
Thank you,
Jesse Buntjer
