Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Cypress Court Escondido,
Since May 8th, our state has been cautiously moving through stage 2 in the 4-stage plan to ease stay-in-place restrictions.
As has been documented, our resident population is the most vulnerable to this virus. While California and other states are looking to gradually lift public restrictions, the senior living industry is cautioned to take a slower and more careful approach to any changes. Senior living will most likely lag behind the general public from a timing perspective so that we can continue to keep our residents safe and healthy here at Cypress Court, Escondido.
Therefore, we want to remind everyone that the safe practices and protocols that we put into place earlier, remain in place. We continue to restrict visitors to essential visits, which means only those providing direct medical supportive services and end of life situations. We will continue to monitor all associates, residents, and essentials visitors for signs/symptoms, and we will continue the use of personal protective equipment (masks, gloves etc.). Residents are asked to continue self-isolation protocols, which include quarantine measures, as necessary. Family visits have taken on a festive spirit as residents enjoy our balcony visits or more quiet visits in our new Family Lounge.
Currently, residents continue to wear face masks whenever they are out of their apartments to enjoy daily scheduled walking on their respective floors; scheduled times by floors in the beautiful courtyard allowing for fresh air, sunshine and socializing (utilizing social distancing) and this week we initiated the ability for residents to exercise in small group format with strict oversight including sanitizing, masks and social distancing. Our on-site salon opened two weeks ago allowing for one on one salon services and has been a huge hit with all residents. Residents are being supported by services which include all meals in their apartments as well as extensive shopping/pharmacy pick-up services through our concierge services staff. Transportation to medical appointments has been provided as well through-out the stay-in-place order.
While in their apartments our in-house channel 1960 allows residents to enjoy programming for daily exercise videos, movies, video bingo and several games per week that invite residents to play along with game sheets distributed everyday to resident apartments – residents call in to the front desk when they have cracked the riddles or have won at bingo!
While limitations and restrictions can be very frustrating we have seen our residents and associates grow in understanding of the seriousness of the COVID-19 virus with a willingness to do what it takes to fully end restrictions with no infections within our community – in fact we are happy to report that Cypress Court remains COVID-19 free. The slow and thoughtful opening of our community while still providing a variety of modified activities is at the core of our residents remaining healthy and well. In the next few days and weeks, we will be adding programming that allow our residents continued physical, emotional, intellectual, and social stimulation. Cypress Court remains the vibrant community it has always been just with a few more precautions to ensure their safety and well-being during these challenging times.
While we continue to monitor the latest news and guidance, we commit to keeping you informed of any additional changes. We will communicate these changes as often as needed via announcements on our in-house station, channel 1960 and via the Executive Director weekly taped coffee chat (available for viewing on You Tube) which is aired on channel 1960 every Tuesday. In addition, the residents receive a weekly “News You Can Use” letter along with e-blasts to all families.
As always, we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have so please feel free to reach out anytime. May you all continue in health and happiness.
