Dear Cypress Court Residents and Families:
From the beginning of the pandemic we hoped for a sprint but prepared for a marathon here at Cypress Court. As the pandemic has dragged on, we have been working diligently behind the scenes to address a variety of issues from making sure our personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies were plentiful to planning our activity programming and dining safely within our community bubble. While some of our policies have seemed restrictive, they have been critical in preventing widespread COVID outbreaks while we wait for testing science and a vaccine to catch up to the virus.
In the past two weeks we changed our lab testing company to Genetworx. This national laboratory has years of PCR testing experience and will be providing bi-weekly testing for our associates and as needed testing for our residents. This week we used Genetworx for the first time. Moving forward, we are looking forward to test results consistently returning to us within two days. With this traditional testing partner in place we have been searching for a fast efficient and less invasive way to regularly test all residents. We have now found a new lab partner and in the next couple of weeks will begin to roll out new “pooled” testing for all residents. This new testing process will take samples from larger groups of residents each week, around 50, combine them and then test the one sample. If that test returns negative, we know all residents in the “pool” are negative which eliminates the need to test everyone. If the “pool” returns positive, then we will use the traditional test with Genetworx to identify any positive cases for treatment. This new “pooled” testing does not involve any of the invasive nasal or throat swabs but instead utilizes a saliva sample.
One of the best parts of our new testing capabilities is it will allow us to return to a closer “normal” life for our residents here at Cypress Court. On October 5th we will reopen our dining room for phased dining. This measured approach, limiting the number of residents who dine at one time, starting with lunch service first and then adding dinner service within the next few weeks will insure the safety and well-being of our residents giving them the confidence to resume routines and programming they have all sorely missed in the past few months. In addition to dining we will also begin to expand our activity programs to include more options and bring back many of the programs our residents are looking forward to enjoying.
We appreciate the trust you all put in us and are working diligently to keep our residents, families, and associates happy, healthy, and safe during these unprecedented times. If you know of an associate at Cypress Court that has gone above and beyond to make a difference for you or your loved one you can recognize them here at https://www.kiscoseniorliving.com/send-a-heartfelt-message-to-our-heroes/ Thank a Kisco Hero today!
