Dear Residents, Families, Friends of Emerald Court;
As you know, my commitment to you is that we will always communicate openly and as timely as possible when there are events or news to share.
On July 5, I wrote to inform you that testing would take place on July 6th. All associates were tested, all residents in the Sapphire building were tested, and many Assisted Living residents were tested at that time. Today we learned that a resident who tested negative during the July 6th test was subsequently tested on July 9th while seeking medical treatment and tested positive. They have not been back to Emerald Court since July 9th.
We are in the process of determining if any associates experienced prolonged close contact (the term defined by the CDC). Any that meet this criteria will remain off campus until cleared of Covid-19. Additionally, as directed by recent State of California guidelines, we will be testing all residents and all associates this week (the week of July 13th). More information will be provided on this to establish times, specific dates, and the process for this testing. All testing will be done on-site at Emerald Court. We will continue with all resident and all associate testing until we are Covid-free for 2 consecutive testing cycles (each test will occur 2 weeks apart). Once we are Covid-free, we will revert to a protocol of all-associate testing every two weeks.
We want to remind everyone that the best defense during this time is:
– Frequent Hand Washing
– Monitoring Health Symptoms (Fever, fatigue, headaches, diarrhea, body aches, and all other CDC-listed symptoms)
– Mask wearing 100% of the time (for associates) and whenever a resident is outside their apartment
– Staying physically distant (at least 6′ apart from others)
We will get through this together by adhering to these practices! Thank you for your diligence in this area!
I will continue to provide updates as conditions change. Please let me know if you have any questions.
