Dear Residents, Families and Loved Ones,
We have just received confirmation that one (1) non-direct contact associate has tested positive for the Covid-19 Corona virus. This was discovered through our regular Monday mandatory surveillance testing of all associates. The associate is asymptomatic and was last in the community on Thursday, November 12th.
The associate will be in self-quarantine at their home and does not work at another health care employer. At this time, no other associates or residents have tested positive or are showing symptoms of Covid-19.
Since October 2020 we started regular twice weekly surveillance testing on Monday and Thursday of all our associates (mandatory testing) and once weekly surveillance testing on Thursday for residents (voluntary testing). If a resident has recurring essential appointments outside the community, they are required to take the test twice weekly.
Due to the weekly testing, we will not be requiring residents to quarantine. If you would like to take a Covid-19 swab test, please go to our Assisted Living Office by 10 am on Wednesday, November 18th. The cost of the tests will be borne by the community with no charges to the associates or residents.
The State of Hawaii Department of Health has been notified of this positive test result and we have provided them with all information for their investigation.
This is a continuing reminder that COVID has not gone away in our greater community and that the risk of contracting COVID is still very real. This is not the time for complacency.
Thank you again for working with us to keep all of us as safe as possible. As always, please feel free to contact Valerie Rickard or me for any questions.
Sincerely,
Mark T. Tsuda
Executive Director
