Dear Residents and Families of Magnolia Glen,
We have dramatically increased our COVID-19 testing over the past week as a result of a positive resident saliva pool and a positive associate saliva pool. I wanted to provide everyone an update on where we stand in terms of the testing results:
- We currently have 1 resident in assisted living who is positive for COVID-19. The resident is being cared for at Magnolia Glen.
- We have 2 associates who tested positive for COVID-19. Each associate is quarantining at home and will return to work once the CDC return to work guidelines are satisfied.
A thorough exposure review was performed using the CDC definition of exposure and we feel strongly at this time that exposure does not extend passed the positive tests already mentioned.
Although we have experienced a spike in COVID-19 at the community after the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to remind everyone that our process is indeed working. Our goal is to detect active COVID-19 early through PCR pooled saliva testing and then quickly respond to positive pools using individual PCR testing to identify any active cases to prevent community spread. So far, we have been able to successfully accomplish our goal. That said, I understand that general anxiety surrounding any positive tests is a reality. Please know that I am available to talk through any questions or concerns you may have about anything relating to COVID-19.
Sincerely,
Jaime Pacheco
Executive Director
