Good afternoon everyone,
One of our assisted living residents had recently been to the hospital. She was tested at the hospital and was negative. She returned the same day and was tested on her fifth day of return as per our current protocol. The result just came back positive. She will self-isolate for five days. It may also be important to note she is asymptomatic.
Our current procedures of testing seem to be effective and we will continue with testing all residents who have left the community for any length of time.
We continue with Pooled Saliva testing and it is working very well. This testing which is done with residents once a week and associates twice weekly is helping us identify any positive individuals in a timely manner.
The Pooled Saliva testing is being done in concert with the individual testing and together we have been successful in isolating individuals testing positive.
With the success of our testing procedures I am comfortable in reopening the interior of our community on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
As we prepare to reopen the dining, activities, and laundry, we recognize the potential risk for the spread of CoVID in the community. Before reviewing the reopening of our community I want to discuss the importance of protocols, procedures, and PPE. We talk about them frequently and they will be more important now than ever.
In the dining areas and during the social hours, residents will not be wearing masks giving the opportunity for the spread of any virus. Our associates will always wear masks and follow protocols including the frequent washing of hands. We will continue to fog all common areas and dining areas.
These are precautions, however; and are not to be considered a substitute for practicing proper protocols, procedures and wearing PPE.
We will continue to restrict people from coming into the community because of the increased vulnerability of our residents not wearing masks while they are dining and attending social events.
