The holidays are upon us. People are traveling from far and wide to be home for the holidays. Some families are holding their traditional get-togethers, many for the first time in months. This year has been especially difficult with the COVID virus threat not allowing for the time we all had previous with family. Many are taking the chance and getting together anyway. Some doing all they can with protocol and PPE and others foregoing these precautions.
The result is what we are all seeing with Governor Newsom’s Limited Stay at Home Order which begins Saturday, November 21st. The virus is widespread throughout most of California with 94% of the population living in counties which are in the Purple Tier (meaning the virus is considered widespread with a positive rate above 8%). I highly encourage staff, residents, and families to keep this in mind and minimize patronizing restaurants, stores, and other areas with a high concentration of people.
The staff and most of the residents at Park Terrace have been doing an outstanding job with maintaining proper protocol (wearing masks properly, washing hands frequently and maintaining social distance whenever possible), following procedures and policies.
It is because of these efforts we have been able to open up many of the activities and dining areas within the community. In addition, we are happy to have been able to provide the opportunity for families to come into the community to have quality time with loved ones after they have tested negative for COVID.
We are doing our best to communicate with everyone and control our environment within Park Terrace, to keep our residents and staff safe and secure. It is up to everyone to do their part to not only keep themselves safe but consider loved ones and others in the community as well.
For now, we will continue to operate as we are today with open dining areas and activities throughout the community and allowing families to come into the community with a negative COVID test result. We are living one day at a time and, given the circumstances, we may change our operation accordingly. I will let everyone know of changes as they occur.
I wish everyone and their family a safe Thanksgiving holiday.
