Resident and families of Sagewood:
The Department of Health and National Guard were here on Monday for testing for all residents and associates. Test results have been returned and there were an additional three residents who tested positive. There was one resident in each Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. The two residents from Assisted Living and Memory Care have been transferred to our Covid area. The resident living in Independent Living is self-isolating in their apartment.
There were no positive test results for our staff. Testing will be completed for all staff again on Friday of this week. The Health Department and National Guard will be returning next Tuesday morning to test all residents and staff. I will send details of times later this week to all residents.
We are now two weeks in from the first positive test result received. The effects on each individual who has tested positive is different. Those residents who are symptomatic are having a very difficult time with the virus causing extreme weakness and fatigue along with other symptoms. Other residents are asymptomatic and feeling normal. This has been devastating for all parties including residents, families, and associates. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our residents and their families. We continue to share your thoughts and words with our associates here at Sagewood.
Questions have been asked about the self-isolation period for those who have tested positive. I have been in communication with the health department daily. CDC guidelines and the Department of Health suggest a 10-day self-isolation for those who are asymptomatic (without symptoms). Those showing symptoms require self-isolation for at least the 10-day period as well as showing no symptoms for 72 hours.
The first positive test results were received two weeks ago today. We have a few associates who are beginning to return to work based on the guidelines above. There are also a few residents who have been asymptomatic who are coming off of self-isolation.
Guidelines will remain the same for all residents. Please continue to be diligent by staying in your apartment. As we continue to come together and adhere to these guidelines, we will be able to return to those things we look forward to each day. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions and I will send another update at the end of the week.
Thanks,
Wade
