Join us for an intimate and inspiring afternoon with artist Anjelika Grossman as she invites guests behind the brush to explore the vision, emotion, and intention behind her work. Through personal storytelling and thoughtful reflection, Anjelika will share what inspires each piece on display at The Fitzgerald, offering insight into the layers of meaning, process, and perspective woven into her art. This special experience provides a deeper understanding of the stories each piece tells and the creative journey that brings them to life. Light refreshments will be served.

Our curated Art Gallery will feature the work of Anjelika Deogirikar Grossman, a Washington, DC–based educator, activist artist, and researcher whose multidisciplinary practice explores watercolor, mixed media, collage, and textile arts. A FY25 grantee of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities’ Fellowship Program, Anjelika is currently an artist-in-residence with the Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where she regularly leads free, online watercolor classes. Her work reflects a thoughtful blending of artistry and advocacy, inviting connection, reflection, and creative exploration. We invite you to be part of this special evening as we unveil Anjelika Deogirikar Grossman’s collection and honor her artistic vision within the heart of our community.

Step into the world of someone living with dementia through this powerful 30-minute Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT). This internationally recognized, research-based experience is designed for senior living professionals, caregivers, medical practitioners, and family members to gain a deeper understanding of the sensory and cognitive changes associated with memory loss. This immersive session, hosted by Morgan Dallas, Memory Care Director at The Fitzgerald, will guide participants through an experience that fosters empathy, strengthens communication, and deepens understanding of person-centered care. At The Fitzgerald, the VDT is a vital part of our associate training and reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in memory care.

Join us for an afternoon of wagging tails and heartfelt connections as we welcome Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to The Fitzgerald for a special Pet Adoption Day. We’ll have several adoptable dogs onsite, offering a chance to meet these wonderful four-legged friends and support local rescue efforts. Sip, mingle, and enjoy light bites as you explore the Pet Spa and Lower Level — and spend time with the pups looking for their forever homes.

Join us for an engaging discussion with Zachary Burt as we explore the evolution of the historic preservation movement and its profound impact on the character of Washington, D.C. Discover how organizations like the DC Preservation League—originally founded in 1971 as Don’t Tear It Down—emerged to protect the city’s most architecturally and culturally significant buildings. Zachary will guide us through how landmarks and historic districts are designated, share notable preservation success stories, and illuminate the ongoing efforts that safeguard the unique heritage of our nation’s capital.
