March 22, 2020: A resident at Woodland Terrace in Cary, North Carolina has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). The resident lives in the Assisted Living area of the community. The resident’s family and healthcare authorities were notified immediately. At this time, the origin of exposure is not known, and there are no other cases in the community. In accordance with patient privacy laws, additional details about the patient and updates on their condition will be provided only by healthcare authorities. We are working with local and state health authorities, as well as following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We understand the desire for more testing and support that position. We are working closely with resident primary care physicians and state agencies and will coordinate any testing that is ordered. We have directed assisted living residents to quarantine in their apartments, and we continue to monitor the health of all associates, especially those directly exposed (who are self-quarantining at home, with none exhibiting symptoms at this time). Those associates will not return to work until after 14 days from the latest date of potential exposure, and only after they are free of any symptoms. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to our beloved resident and their family and will continue to provide regular updates to residents, their family members and associates on what they can do to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the virus. At Kisco Senior Living, our top priority is and will always be the health and well-being of residents and associates.
