Dear Residents and Families,
The safety of our residents and associates has remained our top priority since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis. We’ve tried to implement prudent measures to minimize the risk of infection for all and have continued to study this issue and tried to stay abreast of industry-wide best practices.
Given the current conditions and in support of the latest City & County/State/Federal guidance ALL visitors will be restricted from entering the community and contact with residents. Exceptions to this directive will be “compassionate” visits (only in instances of end-of-life) and licensed care individuals directly providing essential health services.
Residents must also remain in their apartments for the foreseeable future and until significant risk of infection has passed. We believe this will be sometime in late April, early May but will re-assess at that time.
For easier reading we have summarized what has been done for your safety:
- No visitors to community except for “compassionate visits” or essential health care
- Temperature checks of all residents, associates and essential persons coming into the community along with a questionnaire about recent travel, contact with persons who have traveled and health condition
- Strict enforcement of the State of Hawaii’s “stay-at-home” directive
- Recently implemented stay-in-apartment mandate for all residents thru April 30
- All associates (staff) to wear face masks
- All residents leaving the apartment to wear face masks
- Room Service dining
- Customized activities due to stay-in-apartment mandate though you are welcome exercise with walks in the hallway and perimeter of the community wearing a face mask
- Virtual visits with family/friends via Zoom, Face-time, Skype, etc.
- Deliveries dropped off outside the main entrance and sanitized before being brought into the community
- Any resident that leaves the community will be required to self-quarantine in their apartment for a minimum of 14-days upon their return. If resident leaves the community again within the 14-day quarantine period, the 14-day quarantine period restarts from that day.
What you can do:
- Keep in the SPIRIT of the precautions by not seeking loopholes to the quarantine and other City & State mandates
- Continue your patience and understanding of these high-level precautions
- Let us know if you are not feeling well…another sign of COVID-19 is loss of sense of smell and taste
- Wash hands for minimum of 20-seconds
- Use hand sanitizers
While some of you may perceive these measures as unnecessary, we have implemented these precautions with resident and associate health and safety first and foremost. These are unprecedented times and life will return to normal.
Thank you for understanding and for working with us to keep our residents and associates as safe as possible. As always, please feel free to contact Valerie Rickard or me to discuss or to answer any questions.
Sincerely,
Mark T. Tsuda
Executive Director
