Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Abbotswood at Stonehenge;
Throughout the current coronavirus pandemic, we have pledged to be transparent with you all. Last Friday’s letter was our first time having to address an actual COVID-19 case in our community. Thank you for your words of support in response to that communication.
After further review of the associate who tested positive last week, and out of an abundance of caution, we have expanded our testing to others who had may have had minimal exposure to the virus.
As of today, here is a recap of our expanded testing:
- Negative test results came in yesterday for 2 Abbotswood associate who were in closest contact with affected Abbotswood associate.
- Two additional associates (who are showing no symptoms) are also being tested as a precaution, with results pending.
- A third-party CNA with symptoms has been tested for COVID-19 with results pending. Additionally, we also provided testing for 2 additional third-party CNAs at their request, both of whom are asymptomatic.
- We identified four residents – all asymptomatic – who may have had minimal exposure to the virus and testing was provided yesterday, with results pending.
As was the case with the Abbotswood associate, PPE was used properly in each of the encounters with our residents, but we want to ensure their safety. In addition to the information above, today we received news of 2 residents who tested positive for Covid-19. One resident is currently out of the community at a local hospital, and the 2nd resident is sheltering in place in their apartment. We are in the process of working through contact tracing to determine any additional risk of exposure. As in the other situations, we will be in contact with anyone identified in our tracing efforts to offer testing and take the necessary precautions to protect their well-being and that of the entire community.
Updates
As soon as we get the test results, I will provide an update to everyone. At that time, we will be able to determine and communicate next steps to ensure the continued safety of our residents, associates families and vendors. Due to these recent developments and our desire to reduce the risk of spread as we continue to do contact tracing and await test results, Abbotswood at Stonehenge is taking the following steps:
- All residents are strongly encouraged to shelter in place in their apartments. If necessary to be out of the apartment, a mask should be worn at all times and frequent handwashing/sanitizing and social distancing practices adhered to.
- Until further notice, there will be no outside visits permitted.
- Small group wellness activities will be temporarily suspended at this time.
- Residents leaving the campus for any reason will be required to self-isolate for 14 days upon return, or 7 days with a negative test result upon return.
- Reminder: Essential visitors are to be onsite only to provide essential, time sensitive care and those visits are limited to 1 per day and limited to the resident’s apartment.
While these steps may be unwelcome, they are necessary in order to contain and eliminate the presence of the COVID-19 at our community. Thank you again for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
David Sexton
Executive Director, Abbotswood at Stonehenge
