Dear All Residents and Families of Drake Terrace;
As the week draws to a close we would like to update you on the latest community information. First, an update on testing. Most results have returned from our 8/14/20 testing event and we have already started another round of communitywide testing which will be completed tomorrow. Currently we have two active cases. One associate from our dining department and another from our assisted living department (previously reported) are both asymptomatic and have been placed off work with pay until they are cleared to return. We do not have any active cases among our residents at this time.
We are encouraged by the recent decline in cases in Marin County with a positivity rate sub 5%, however, we are reminded that outbreaks will peak and wane over time. We will continue to facilitate weekly testing until no positives are detected at which point we will resume surveillance testing of 25% our community each week. As a reminder, we notify anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or who may have had exposure to a COVID-positive individual. Negative results are not shared individually.
As we have welcomed several new residents to our community this month, I would like to remind everyone of safety protocols we uphold together:
• We maintain a single point of entry, allowing for only those visitors deemed “essential” for critical resident/community services and end of life compassionate visits. We are happy to schedule a visit by appointment, utilizing our outdoor seating spaces provided masks and social distancing are maintained. Non-essential visitors are not permitted to enter our buildings at this time to protect our residents. All essential visitors are screened and temperature checked upon entry.
• Residents who need to leave our campus for any reason, are asked to sign out at the front desk and quarantine in their apartment upon return for 14 days based on potential exposure.
• We continue to offer small group wellness programs such as fitness classes, intellectual games, social hour, and art. We look forward to growing these opportunities and will utilize a sign-up system and/or offer duplicate meetings to help control the group size to allow for social distancing and a safe flow of traffic to and from these events.
• “Wearing is Caring”- All associates must wear a mask while at work. Residents are required to wear a mask (fully covering nose and mouth) when out of their apartment. Masks are vital to prevent potential spread of COVID-19.
• Friends and family may drop off packages for residents at our front entrance. All packages are sanitized and delivered to resident’s apartments daily.
• New residents are tested for COVID-19 shortly before moving in and shelter-in-place for 14 days as a precaution. Each month we will host meet and greet events to allow residents to meet each other after our new residents are settled in.
Ricardo Romero, our new Executive Director, starts on Monday August 24th. Please sign up to meet him at our small gatherings scheduled for 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. Ricardo looks forward to meeting all of you and being initiated into the Drake Terrace family. As always, if you have any comments, compliments or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Our top priority is your health and happiness!
Sincerely,
Leandra Negrete
