Dear Residents, Families, and Associates of Byron Park,
We are happy to announce we have been cleared from our previous outbreak status with Contra Costa Public Health as evidenced by 2 consecutive rounds of negative test results for associates and residents. I have had the pleasure to speak with many of you over the course of the last few weeks and would like to extend a heartfelt thank you on behalf of our team for the dialogue, support and notes of appreciation.
We are thrilled at the resumption of small group wellness opportunities, scenic drives, masked and socially distant visitation for residents in the courtyard and common areas, fitness center and pool access by single use reservation only. A few of these fun moments are captured below! As a note scenic drives, outdoor activities and outdoor dining are dependent upon the air quality created by the fires. All items are by reservation only, masks and maintaining a 6-foot distance from others is required.
As noted in our last communication we will have a staged reopening so we can balance social-emotional needs and measures to keep our community safe. We have a targeted date of Monday September 28th, 2020 for the reopening of indoor dining. Due to significant operational changes, associate training and plans for enhanced testing measures this is our earliest reopen date for dining.
The addition of indoor visitation for non-essential visitors (family and friends) has been moved up to today September 11th, 2020 in response to the ongoing poor air quality and inability to safely utilize the garden room/balcony visits. Please check channel 998 for a daily update on air quality and please keep your doors and windows closed during this time. As we have done each fire season and should you need it, KN95 masks are available. Please stop by the front desk and pick one up if you are leaving the community. Our designated visitation station located in our bistro. The concept is consistent with our garden room visits- these appointments are by reservation only, first come/first serve, a 50 minute maximum to allow for proper sanitation measures between visits and proper mask usage/physical social distancing is required at all times. Visitors are not allowed in resident apartments or in other areas of the community during their visit and there is a max number of 2 guests per visit allowed.
The following operations remain in place: postponement of outdoor dining service due to the poor air quality created by fires. The salon will reopen the first week in October for hair services only, nail services are only allowed to be open in our county outdoors. Similar to outdoor dining, we will need to wait until the air quality improves. Our daily monitoring of each resident and associate for temperature and COVID-19 symptoms, covid surveillance testing and increased disinfection of all high-traffic/high-touch areas are a permanent operational change.
Our traditional flu season is fast approaching and so is our community clinics. These clinics are available for any associate and all residents who wish to participate. Please call the front desk to sign up at least 48 hours in advance. High Dose flu shots will be available for all individuals 65 and older.
CVS Flu Shot Clinic is September 16th, 2020 (Non-Kaiser Insurance)
KAISER Flu Shot Clinic is October 8th, 2020
While we remain enthusiastic about our next phase of operations, I would like to remind you that this will be a fluid environment and our lifestyle offerings; containment initiatives and safety restrictions will change from time to time based on the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community and Contra Costa County as well as the compliance of all residents and visiting guests. Masks must always be worn covering both the nose and mouth and physical distancing must be at least six feet. Lastly, in response to resident and family feedback we have created a quick reference guide to summarize our operating guidelines related to covid in one document. This will allow residents and families an easy way to review and comply with the most current operating protocols. A copy of our community guidelines will be distributed to every resident on Monday 9.14.20. If you would like a virtual copy, please send your request via email. As always if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora,
Executive Director
