Dear Residents and Families of Abbotswood at Stonehenge,
Last Thursday we tested a total of 136 individuals, consisting of essential visitors, private duty caregivers and associates of Abbotswood, Aware and Legacy. Testing methods included the use of saliva samples and nasal swabs. I am pleased to report that all 136 tests were negative! Under any conditions that would be good news, but it is especially great considering the ongoing rise in the positivity rate here in Wake County. Your attention to faithfully following the 4 pillars of safety (wearing a mask, social distancing, frequent hand hygiene & daily health monitoring) is much appreciated.
Saliva testing for all Abbotswood residents, essential visitors, private duty caregivers, Abbotswood, Aware and Legacy associates will take place on Monday, January 11th in the Club Room between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. If you will not be able to be present on Monday during the designated testing hours, you may leave a sample at the front desk anytime between now and 5:00 pm Monday afternoon to be included in the pooled testing.
On Thursday, January 14th, Abbotswood will be providing individualized nasal swab testing from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Club Room for all essential visitors, private duty caregivers, Abbotswood, Aware and Legacy associates. The nasal swab testing will be limited to those hours, so please coordinate your schedule to be present during the testing times if possible. Everyone included in the testing program at Abbotswood should ideally be tested every time that testing is offered to them, but I realize that there may be obligations that could prevent someone from participating in testing during those hours every Thursday. If in any given week you know that you will not be able to take part in the Thursday testing that is required for you, please make sure to prioritize submitting a saliva sample for the Monday pooled testing.
I am continuing to stay in touch with our COVID-19 vaccination provider and expect to have an update for you shortly regarding the timing of the clinic here at Abbotswood. Please know that we are eager to make the vaccine available to our residents and staff and we will begin that process at the earliest possible time available for us. I will communicate further news to you soon.
On behalf of the entire community, I want you to know how deeply appreciative we all are of your support. With the coronavirus have come tremendous challenges, and we have all been impacted in a variety of significant ways. Your commitment to your loved ones and to the best interests of the community have not wavered, and you have not grown weary in doing good despite the length and stress of the pandemic. I want to thank you again, and remind you of what an encouragement you have been to me and to everyone here at Abbotswood at Stonehenge.
