Our test results from Monday February 1st testing have come back NEGATIVE!
We enjoyed our visit with Leandra Negrete, Operations Team Leader from the home office this week and she had great feedback to share with us from her time here. It is always refreshing to have a fresh set of eyes and ears to see and hear opportunities that can enhance our community. I had the pleasure of meeting a few of our Executive Director candidates as they interviewed for the position. I appreciate everyone’s faith and support in wanting me to continue as the Interim Executive Director and will continue to do so until we find the right leader for our community; however, I have decided to stay in my role as your Resident Relations Director. I am self-fulfilled and passionate about the scope of work I do to support you and your families and want to continue to make a difference every day.
Our focus over the next several months will be ways in which we can transition back to some normal operations while still ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone within the community. A first step in this direction was a mini makeover to the Porte Cochere and Lobby areas last night to open the flow of traffic. The drop off table has been relocated from the Porte Cochere walkway to the interior of the vestibule. We ask that families continue to drop off items in this new location. The Front Desk Team will have a better sight of vision to acknowledge visitors as they are delivering. The Accushield Kiosk has been shifted to the right corner of the Lobby as soon as you walk in, just outside the visit station room. We have also added a couple of chairs for your convenience as you are waiting for transportation pickups. Please be mindful that these chairs are intended for short interval seatings and longer visits are welcomed in the Montpelier Living Room.
David Pensyl, our Environmental Services Director, and I have been diligently working on a solution for our intercom system that remains out of service, affecting apartments 259-368. The equipment that needs repair is over 30 years and somewhat obsolete. We may need to upgrade the current system and are looking into these options. Please continue to call the Front Desk on the main switchboard at (757) 428-2884 to communicate with us.
Melinda Wallace who is currently one of our Lead Dining Servers will be transitioning to the Environmental Services Department on February 15th as a Laundry Aide and supporting the Housekeeping Team. Melinda has been with First Colonial Inn for 12 years and we are looking forward to her learning this new role. Please help us in congratulating her!
It has been a pleasure to see so many enjoying the Water’s Edge Dining Room for dinner, just a reminder that and you may sign up to dine in the dining room for lunch as well. Ashley Rosado, our Dining Services Director, and her team are planning some great themed menus for Superbowl Sunday, Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras this month. We are also offering a complimentary glass of wine or beer when you dine in Water’s Edge on Thursdays. Over the next month we will begin preparing to reopen the Chesapeake Dining Room and will have additional information to share with you in the weeks ahead.
Just a reminder, the next Vaccine Clinic is scheduled for Monday, February 15th. Everyone who received their first dose on Monday, January 25th will need to receive a second dose at this clinic. We will need to complete a second consent form in which we will distribute next week for your convenience. You will not need to provide your insurance information again unless you are receiving the vaccine for the first time.
On Monday, February 15th, we will also be asking you to participate in our Resident Satisfaction Survey. This survey allows us to receive valuable feedback and opportunities to consider ways in which we can enhance community life through our services. Please plan to participate in the survey. We will have tablets available for your convenience to take the survey at the Vaccine Clinic while you are waiting.
