Dear Residents, and Families of Abbotswood at Irving Park;
On May 20, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper announced that North Carolina would move into Safer at Home Phase 2, as key indicators remain stable in our state. The Governor also indicated that due to the continued increases in daily Coronavirus case counts across the state, N.C. will need to take a more modest approach to Phase 2 than initially outlined.
The opening (with limitations) of several businesses in no way means that the threat of this virus has passed. Our community will continue to be cautious and use good judgement as we make operational decisions. The Abbotswood community has been very successful in maintaining a safe and secure environment. We are grateful to our associates, residents and family members who have made significant sacrifices so that we can all stay healthy! Because of those sacrifices, we are in the fortunate position to feel comfortable with a loosening of some of the restrictions within the community. These changes will be in effect starting Monday 5/25, as outlined below:
- Small group resident programming (10 or less)
- Outdoor resident programming (25 or less)
- Fitness center opening (with some restrictions)
- Visitation stations (with barrier) for family visits by appointment (call 336-282-8870 to schedule!)
- Small group scenic drives (10 or less)
- Salon services (with some restrictions) fully opening 6/1/20
*Masks are to be worn and social distancing practiced when outside apartment!
As we allow for more gathering, we will be enforcing the 14 day shelter in place for any resident who leaves the campus. The shelter in place request would preclude an individual, who leaves our campus, from participating in the small group programming or accessing services outlined above for the two week period.
The next 2-3 weeks will give us direction as we see if and how the phased reopening of NC will impact statewide. Abbotswood will continue to require masks of all associates in the community, shoe sanitization and protective equipment for all essential visitors (defined as those providing an essential medical service or end of life care), frequent sanitizing of all high touch surfaces, meal delivery, temperature checks, and multiple hand hygiene stations. We thank everyone for their continued support of these programs. Let’s not let our guard down as enjoy a few more freedoms across the campus!
As a reminder, we are still available to assist with the deliveries of packages daily between 1-3 p.m., telehealth appointments, online grocery shopping and truly any other need that you may have! Please let us know if you have thoughts or concerns. Providing a safe environment for our residents and associates remains our priority.
Sincerely,
Allison Pait
Executive Director
