Dear All Residents, Associates and Families of Byron Park,
As promised, we will continue to share important information as soon as we can to ensure everyone is informed and prepared. In our communication on July 11th, 2020 I noted there to be 20 outstanding test results for associates. Currently, we have 5 outstanding COVID19 baseline associate test results pending.
This letter is to update you on a status change of the COVID-19 cases at our community. We have received notification of a secondary associate with a positive test result for Covid-19 today.
In partnership with our associate and Public Health we have identified the origin of exposure to be outside of Byron Park. This associate does not work with or in the same department as the previously identified associate. This associate will continue to remain out of the community and at home for 14 days.
The healthcare authorities (Contra Costa Public Health- Communicable Disease Program) and community care licensing were notified. A full review and notification to any individuals who may have had exposure has been completed. If you were not notified by phone of possible exposure you either did not encounter this associate or your interaction did not meet the criteria of exposure. All calls were completed prior to sending this letter. Based on our current protocols, with associates wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) following CDC guidelines, we are confident of minimal exposure.
In accordance with patient privacy laws, additional details about the patient and updates on their condition will be provided only by healthcare authorities.
The protocols that we put into place earlier, continue to remain in place. These include restricting visitors, monitoring each resident and associate for temperature and respiratory symptoms, suspending all meal service and activities, and increased disinfecting of all high-traffic/high-touch areas.
For the safety of all residents and as directed by Public Health, we will continue to require all residents to shelter in place until we have completed the necessary requirements to end our outbreak protocol.
As a reminder our county Public Health has defined an “outbreak” as a single case of COVID19 or more. The resumption of outdoor dining, masked socially distant socialization and group activities, fitness center and pool access can occur once we have completed 2 weeks of mass testing with negative results.
Due to the timing of testing this secondary positive case does not alter our previously identified timeline of mass testing which is noted below:
1. Friday July 17th, 2020 9:00am to 5:00pm – Associate and Residents
a. Saturday July 18th 12:00pm to 4:00pm – Secondary Associate Option
2. Friday July 24th, 2020 9:00am to 5:00pm – Associate and Residents
a. Saturday July 25th 12:00pm to 4:00pm – Secondary Associate Option
We will continue to provide regular updates on community status changes and what we can do to protect our residents, associates, and greater community to prevent the spread of the virus. We want to thank each of you for your continued support, partnership and commitment to our 4 pillars of safety which are – washing your hands frequently, complete our daily health screening and report when you are not feeling well, wear a mask for the entire duration you are in any common area or with other people and stay six feet physically distant. If you have any questions, comments, feedback or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Pastora
Executive Director
