Residents & Families:
On May 20th, Governor Roy Cooper announced the state will progress into Phase II. Phase II will begin at 5:00pm on Friday, May 22, 2020 and remains in place until June 26, 2020, unless changed or cancelled. This order lifts the statewide Stay-at-Home Order and moves the state to a Safer-At-Home recommendation. The Governor specifically has recommendations for long-term care centers and although Magnolia Glen is technically not considered a long-term care center, we are following the guidelines for long-term care centers due to the fact our residents are all considered to be in the high-risk category.
We understand how difficult our COVID-19 safety protocols have been and the impact those protocols may be having on different aspects of your daily lives. Moving into Phase II allows Magnolia Glen to start carefully loosening up certain aspects of our protocols. Face coverings and social distancing will be two staple concepts that will be at the center of our current protocol modifications and most likely future changes.
Magnolia Glen Phase II COVID-19 Protocols
Non-Essential Visitors
Visitors will continue to be prohibited inside of the community (except for instances of end-of-life or care related visits). Deliveries can continue to be dropped off at the front entrance and an associate will deliver directly to the resident’s apartment.
Health Monitoring
Daily monitoring of associate & resident health (for fever & cough) will continue.
Resident Self-Isolation– Starting May 22, 2020 at 5pm
Residents will no longer be required to self-isolate in their apartments. When outside of their apartment, residents must wear a facemask and maintain social distancing (6ft. apart). In any instance where a resident leaves the community, the resident will be asked to self-isolate in their apartment for 14 days.
Dining
The dining rooms will remain closed. All meals will continue to be delivered to apartments due to concerns about asymptomatic residents—facemasks cannot be worn while eating.
Wellness Programming– Starting the week of June 1, 2020
Small group wellness programming will resume with all participants wearing facemasks and practicing social distancing. Residents may resume enjoying outdoor spaces of the community while practicing social distancing and wearing a facemask.
- Transportation: Outings (except for required Dr. visits) will remain discontinued at this time.
- Pool: The pool will reopen with limited hours of operation to allow for proper disinfecting. 1 resident allowed inside the pool for a maximum of 30 minutes per session and sign-up sheets will be available inside the fitness center. Locker rooms will be closed.
- Fitness Center: Closed during Phase II.
Salons– Starting the week of June 1, 2020
Services will be scheduled by appointment only. One resident will be permitted in the salon at a time and facemasks will be required to be used during the salon appointment.
Thank you for your continued support and compliance with our protocols! I know there are an infinite number of what-if scenarios, so please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help expand on any of the protocols.
Sincerely,
Jaime Pacheco
