Why Consider a Senior Living Community?

September 17, 2020

If there was a better understanding of the wide range of senior living options that we offer, our associates’ exceptional level of care for the residents, our thoughtfully designed programs and extraordinary residences, the decision to consider a senior living community as a place of dwelling would be much easier. To provide you with greater insight as you consider living options for yourself or a loved one, we have compiled a list of some of the common concerns and misconceptions that we often hear, along with a cost comparison worksheet to help you assess the financial benefits.

FAMILIARITY AND INDEPENDENCE

The transition to senior living is a lifestyle idea that many seniors typically avoid or delay due to their misconceptions about what senior living communities represent, or the fear of losing the familiarity of their home and existing surroundings. Additionally, many believe that they can be more independent at home, which may be true for the time being, but without appropriate planning, there is a risk of becoming less independent in the future. There may also be an increase in isolation, inactivity, boredom and loneliness that some seniors may experience while living in their homes alone. Our communities for seniors are designed with all the comforts of home, including additional invaluable benefits that cannot be gained by living in a single-family home.

MOVING

The idea of moving and downsizing their possessions can also provoke anxiety to many seniors. With the aid of downsizing and senior moving experts, much of these perceived hassles and concerns can be minimized and handled with ease. Often times after moving into one of our communities, many seniors have shared that they regret not having moved in sooner.

LIFESTYLE AND WELLBEING

When considering senior living, it is important to factor in all the aspects that can impact a senior’s lifestyle and well-being. These may include: companionship, social outlets, opportunities to safely enjoy the outdoors, access to transportation, and whole-person wellness, strengthening the mind, body and spirit. At Kisco, we integrate the physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and vocational dimensions of wellness in our operating methodology.

DINING

Kisco’s dining programs go above and beyond expectations. Every community provides daily restaurant-style cuisine with a wide variety of delicious, nutritious, and healthy menu selections, prepared exclusively by our accomplished Executive Chefs. Most of our communities offer multiple dining venues including bistros and cafes for our residents’ preference and convenience of dining choices. Our innovative Taste, Travel, Explore program celebrates diversity of cuisines and cultural wellness, inspiring residents to take part in seasonal events discovering foods, activities and wellness practices from all over the world.

AFFORDABILITY

Is living at home more affordable than living at a senior living community? To accurately calculate the cost between home health care and a senior living community, be sure  to add all your monthly living expenses to the cost of in-home health care in your area, and then compare this total budget number to the monthly fee at a senior living community.

Many costs are included in the monthly fee at our senior living communities including: restaurant-style dining, housekeeping, laundry services, maintenance, utilities, programs for social well-being, fitness, cultural and educational pursuits, transportation, and most importantly, peace of mind – which is priceless.

At Kisco Senior Living, we’re here to make your decision simple while educating you on your senior living options, not only in our communities, but in the competition, or options to remain at home if that is what makes the most sense for you and your family.
